Ógra Sends Solidarity to Striking Polish Women
Ógra Shinn Féin offers solidarity with women striking in Poland over the change in abortion laws.
On October 3, seven million women in Poland went on strike, outraged by a controversial court ruling on abortion. Current Polish law still bans abortion except in very limited cases, and lawmakers are already working on new ways to roll back reproductive rights. The proposal would punish women who end a pregnancy with up to five years in prison.
The Women's Strike, which has been leading the opposition to the bill, called the strike under the slogan: "We are not going to work.”Criminalising abortion doesn’t stop abortions it makes it less safe and unsafe abortions can have fatal consequences.
Everyone who can get pregnant should have the right to have a choice to have an abortion.
Seolann Ógra Shinn Féin dlúthpháirtíocht chuig mná atá ar stailc sa Pholainn faoi na n-athruithe leis an reachtaíocht ar ghinmhilleadh.
Ar an 3 Deireadh Fómhair, chuaigh seacht milliúin mná sa Pholainn ar stailc, agus iad ar buile mar chinneadh cúirte conspóideadh. Faoi lathair sa Pholainn, tá cosc ar ghinmhilleadh ach amháin i gcásanna an-teoranta, agus tá lucht déanta dlí ag obair ar bhealaí nua cheana féin chun cearta athghiniúna a chur ar gcúl. Chuirfeadh mná a chuireann deireadh le toircheas i bpriosún ar feadh suas le cúig bliana faoi an moladh seo.
D’eagraigh ‘Stailc na mBan’, atá ar thús cadhnaíochta in aghaidh an bille, an stailc faoin mana: “Ní muid ag dul ag obiar”. Ní stopann an coiriúlú ghinmhilleadh ach is mar sin bíonn siad a bhfad níos lú sábháilteachta agus is feidir iarmhairtí tubaisteacha a tharla le ghinmhilleadh neamhshábháilte.
Ba chóir go mbeadh cearta ginmhillte atá ag gach duine atá ábalta bheith ag iompar.
