Enhorabona Catalunya
Cuirimid comhghairdeas mór dár gcomrádaithe ar thaobh an neamhspleáchais sa Chatalóin as an toradh stairiúil ar bhain siad amach i dtoghchán Parlamainte na Catalóine inné.
Anuas ar líon a suíochán a ardú sa Pharlamaint, fuair na páirtithe ar thaobh an neamhspleáchais breis is 51% den vóta, le chéile. Is é seo an chéad uair a bhfuil an cor cinniúnach seo bainte amach acu i dToghchán Parlamainte Catalóineach. Chomh maith leis seo, fuair ár gcomrádaithe san Esquerra Republicana, le páirtí eile, an líon is mó suíochán agus anois tá siad réidh chun Uachtaránacht na Catalóine a thógáil don chéad uair ó toghadh Josep Tarradellas, a chaith an chuid is mó dá am ar deoraíocht le linn tréimhse Franco.
Ní féidir le Rialtas na Spáinne leanúint orthu leis an seasamh seo i gcoinne ceart féinchinntiúcháin na Catalóine. Leanfaidh Ógra Shinn Féin ar aghaidh ag obair lenár gcomrádaithe in eití óige ar nós Jovent Republicà, grúpaí saoránaigh na Catalóine, agus le Catalónaigh a bhfuil cónaí orthu in Éirinn chun cinnte a dhéanamh de go gcloisfear teachtaireacht na Catalóine timpeall na hÉireann agus níos faide i gcéin.
Ógra Shinn Féin sends our congratulations to our Pro-Independence comrades in Catalonia for achieving an historic result in yesterday’s Catalan Parliament election.
In addition to increasing their number of seats in Parliament, Pro-Independence parties collectively secured just over 51% of the vote. This is the first time this landmark has been reached in a Catalan Parliament election. In addition to this, our comrades in Esquerra Republicana secured the joint highest number of seats and are now poised to officially take charge of the Catalan Presidency for the first time since Josep Tarradellas, who spent the majority of his time in the role exiled by Franco.
The position of successive Spanish Governments against the right to Catalan self-determination continues to be an untenable one. Ógra Shinn Féin will continue to work with our comrades in youth wings like Jovent Republicà, Catalan civil society groups, and Catalans resident in Ireland to ensure that the Catalan message is heard across Ireland and beyond.
