Bloody Sunday Murderers Not to be Pursued
Ógra Shinn Féin is disgusted but in no way surprised to see last year's ruling that the Bloody Sunday murderers will not be pursued by the Public Prosecutions Service in the north has been upheld.
In 2010 the British government admitted the murders of 14 people on the 30th of January 1972 by the British Army were "unjustified and unjustifiable." Only soldier F will be prosecuted. He is just one of 16 whose identity is known to the British State who carried out these killings. The other 15 will face no consequences for shooting unarmed people in the back.
To argue that these killers are aging is irrelevant. The British Goverment stonewalling and stalling until they are all dead doesn't change the facts: these people murdered, Britain covered for them for decades and continues to do so. We support the calls from Uachtarán Shinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald to the Irish Government to speak to the British Prime Minister.
There is no such thing as British Justice. Ballymurphy, Bloody Sunday, Springhill, New Lodge, Loughinisland stand testement to this. We offer our continuing absolute support and solidarity to all the families of the victims. We would like to pay tribute to their strength over the last 48 years.
