Hamill urges support for National Housing Demonstration
National Chairperson Aodhan Hamill has urged people to support the National Housing Demonstration on Saturday 7th April in Dublin.
Aodhan Hamill said:
"488 children were made homeless last month alone, bringing the total number of families in emergency accommodation to over 1,700.
"This is nothing short of a national embarrassment. Homelessness is a symptom of two failed states on this island.
"Adequate shelter is one of the most basic human needs and is consequently one of the most important human rights.
"Sinn Féin in government will build 100,000 new, social and affordable homes.
"It is our job to ensure that boom and bust property cycles, housing waiting lists, homelessness and environmentally-unsound housing, are things of the past.
"Ógra Shinn Féin will be mobilising for Saturday's demonstration, organised by the National Homeless and Housing Coalition.
"Please use every means at your disposal to spread the word, encourage others to attend, and importantly, make every effort to attend yourself. Play your part in the campaign to end homelessness on this island."
