Ibrahim Halawa's acquittal welcome - McGinley

Republican Youth welcome the news that Irish citizen Ibrahim Halawa has been acquitted in Cairo today.

Caolán McGinley said:

"I welcome the news that Irish citizen, Ibrahim Halawa has been acquitted in an Egyptian court today.

 "Ibrahim Halawa spent four years of his life in an Eqyptian prison and was subject to many farcical mass trials. 

 "His physical and mental health suffered greatly as result of his imprisonment and the inhumane treatment he received from the authorities. 

"The Egyptian government must now guarantee his safe return to Ireland and his family as soon as possible."
