Solidarity with Bus Éireann workers - Donegal Republican Youth

Donegal Sinn Féin Republican Youth activists joined Bus Éireann workers picketing in Letterkenny in support of the ongoing strike action against the government's ideological agenda to privatise public transport.

Niamh Walsh said:

"The cuts proposed by Bus Éireann management will be disastrous for our local community. Bus Éireann want to cut their workers’ wages by hundreds a week.

"They also want to axe important rural routes including the Derry to Dublin route. This route is vital for students travelling home and also for those attending medical appointments, any cut to this route would be disastrous for them.  As well as further cutting off the north west from the rest of the country.

"We also gathered in Letterkenny town centre to hand out information leaflets on the strike and why the workers have been forced to take action. It's vitally important that the public are educated on the issue and to encourage that they direct their anger at the management, shareholders and government instead of bus workers.

"Living in rural Ireland is certainly not easy, and with the cutting of our already limited routes to urban areas it will make life a lot more difficult for the whole community. It is crucial that people put their support behind the Bus Éireann workers."
