Important day for reproductive rights in Argentina - Norton

Today is a massively important day for Argentina, a day very similar to what Ireland witnessed just a few months back. The fight for reproductive rights in Argentina has been underway for years with more and more people having the courage to speak up.

Today, the Argentinian senate will vote on a bill that would make abortion legal up to 14 weeks.

Since 1983, 3,000 women who where unable to travel to access abortion services have died as a direct result of this restrictive law. Its clear that passing this bill truly is a life or death situation.

Ireland and Argentina are united in the struggle for reproductive rights. The campaign in Argentina, like ours in Ireland was activist led, the people took to the streets to demand equal rights for women and pregnant people, much like what we seen all across Ireland over the past few years and we continue to see in the north.

Ógra Shinn Féin stand firmly in solidarity and support with the Argentinian people as they continue their fight for equal rights and opportunities.
