Ógra Shinn Féin welcome release of Ahed Tamimi

Commenting on the release of Palestinian teenager, Ahed Tamimi, National Chairperson Aodhán Hamill said:

“Ógra Shinn Féin are delighted to see Ahed Tamimi released after 8 months of unjust detention.

“She was arrested in December after a video of her challenging Israeli occupation forces to leave her West Bank family home went viral on social media.

“Ahed Tamimi has become an icon of resistance to occupation and the international face of Palestinian child prisoners.

“It’s time for the apartheid Israeli state to release the remaining 300 Palestinian children held in their jails.

“Leo Varadkar’s government must heed calls to stand up for the Palestinian people by giving the Israeli ambassador a one-way ticket home.”
