Ballina to host 2017 National Hunger Strike commemoration

The 2017 National Hunger Strike Commemoration will take place in Ballina, Co Mayo on Sunday 13th August, as part of the event, Sinn Féin Republican Youth have organised a weekend of events for young republicans.

11am - Workshop "Colonisation of Ireland and British Capitalism" this workshop facilitated by Stevie Nolan, Trademark, assesses the long history of conflict caused by British interference in Ireland highlighting the interwoven nature of British imperialism in Ireland and the history of global capitalism

5pm - Dinner

7pm - "Hunger for Justice" panel discussion and Q&A with former hungerstrikers including an analysis from the recent Palestinian Prisoners Hunger Strike. 

9pm - Function, music by Spirit of Freedom

Sunday 13th August 

3pm - Hunger Strike Commemoration march and rally.
